ALAN MOLONEY

Alan Moloney lives and works as an artist in the town of Castlemaine, Victoria. He was educated at the Bendigo Institute of Technology (Diploma in Visual Arts, majoring in painting), the Melbourne School of Art, Design & Photography and Oakleigh Horticultural College (Trade Certificate in Nursery & Gardening). Alan's paintings reflect his interest in the natural environment and are inspired by his surroundings in Victoria's goldfields region. His work is held in private collections in Australia, the USA and Europe.

Alan's work is currently represented at Heron's Fine Art Gallery in Castlemaine and at Seaview Gallery in Queenscliff. He has previously exhibited paintings at Dudley House in Bendigo and the Bold Gallery in Castlemaine. His photographs have been published in The Age (Melbourne), and The Daily Mirror and The Standard (London).

In 2011, he was shortlisted for the Whyalla Art Prize in South Australia and was a finalist in the Len Fox Painting Award, winning the People's Choice Prize. He has twice been a finalist (2003 and 2005) in the Julie Millowick Acquisitive Photography Award (Castlemaine State Festival) and was shortlisted in 2008 for the Castlemaine Art Gallery's Community Art Prize called 'Exploring Themes of Loss and Grief'.
